Framus Dragon: Fire Breathing Precision!
The Framus Dragon is an amp that goes unappreciated and forgotten, or perhaps maybe just unknown. A search on Equipboard for relevant players doesn't populate much, and by now the amps seem to have been out of production for about a decade. Players familiar with the Dragon say a lot of the same things. That It's fizzy, it doesn't have enough sustain, it's too dry, but the cleans are really great, and putting a pedal in front of it helps a lot of the sticking points. My take is that, those opinions can be fairly spot on for a stock Framus Dragon...
But of course, that's not the Framus Dragon that belongs to Chaos Tones!!! This one recieved a bias and voicing overhaul over all 3 channels, and the result is the most articulate and clear sounding high-gain amp in the Chaos Tones collection. Even when the gain is maxed out and there's a tube screamer in front, the saturation never overshadows the precision, the notes still remain clear, and the sustain just goes! So if you're a precise player, the Dragon rewards you greatly! It's not the most assuming or prestigious amp, but what it does, it does better than any other, and it sure is fun! Enjoy it!
